AC.com 		I always found observation of the situation or behavior to give the best information. Having a third party watch both the student and the adults in the situation can produce great feedback and clarity. Additionally, data collection helps one to actually see quantitatively what is occurring. It is one thing to say a behavior happens "often" but it is another thing to say a behavior happens "121 times per hour."

There is a motivation assessment scale. Here is the link: http://www.monacoassociates.com/mas/aboutmas.php . This helps to pinpoint the function of a behavior.
