how do you stop manipulative behavior? My student has scoliosis and she bangs her body on the floor if she can't get what she wants. What should I do?

I have to hold her tight to prevent her from banging her body coz she has scoliosis..... How do i stop her manipulative behavior

i agree with the recommendation to complete an FBA and Positive Behavior Support Plan but in the meantime here are some things to consider and possibly try. How does your student communicate her needs now? what ever her abilities are work with your speech/language therapist to strengthen her communication system. it's quite possible that she doesn't know another way to communicate her needs. good luck!

The best be would be to conduct a functional behavior assessment to find out why she is doing it. Once you find out why, you will be able to create a better plan.
